  1. If all else fails, jab your thumbs into both ear holes as hard as you can, like you are trying to crush the dog's skull. Sounds stupid, but it works. I saved my dog from a pitbull attack by doing this to the pit. It was mauling my dog's face. I tried everything, shouting, pulling, poking it's eyes, choking, sitting on it's back, it felt NOTHING and wouldn't stop thrashing my dog around by the head, until I remembered the ear trick, it immediately let go and walked away confused.

My dog (she's only 16lbs) healed up just fine by the way, after a vet visit. She had something like 10 puncture wounds and a tear on her cheek that ripped the surrounding facial skin up off of the muscle. You can't tell it happened now.

  2. I wrestle with my Doberman like this from time to time…of course it is all play, but it does give you a very good idea of how a dog will attack you and how you can submit them to the ground! Also, I'm his owner and he stops on command, so the element of fear and panic or shock is not there at all, which makes all the difference, and helps me properly submit him.
